Siste aktivitet før jeg måtte tilbake på jobb var ny støtfanger bak. Hadde bestilt meg en ARB med reservehjulsholder, og med den kom det tre svære poser med skruer, mutre, klips i alle farger og fasonger, kroker, mellomleggsplater og-gudene-vet-hva. Hadde i utgangspunktet sett for meg at dette var en massiv stål konstruksjon som man boltet på og ferdig med det, men neida. Skrudde småbiter etter bruksanvisning i to hele kvelder. Men til slutt nærmet det seg montering på gromvogna...

Og etter en rask demontering av plæstikk og slepekrok (og nok et bling-trinn... ), skulle det være klart for montering.

Alternative løsninger til hjelpende hender må til når man skal holde på plass en støtfanger på sikkert 40 kg... Men kontorstolen funket utmerket, og når ARBen omsider hang på, kunne jeg montere sidepaneler og utsvingbar reservehjulsholder.

Og siden svart matcher svart, så jeg tror nesten at jeg lar være å montere det medfølgende aluminiumsdekselet...

Done! Liten pause nå før neste runde, men da håper jeg å få på plass snorkel, en ARB fanger til, og en vinsj. Tror jeg da...

Okay... Må bare få ut litt frustrasjon her nå...

Var på Autogrip i Oslo og fikk balansert opp hjulene mine, og det jeg fikk se når vi fikk hjulene i balanseringsmaskinen er noe av det verste jeg har sett!! Av de fire hjulene jeg kjøpte (Goodyear W MT/R 35x12,5 på 15" Mickey Thompson fra et kjent dekksenter i Tønsberg) var det kun ett som var et rimelig ok utgangspunkt. To hadde STORE flat-spots (og dekket med den største flat-spot'en hadde jeg fått beskjed om å sette forran...), og det tredje var rett og slett skikkelig asymetrisk. Trengte ikke akkurat laser for å se det...

Den neste morsomme utfordringen kom når vi skulle balansere disse greiene på 15" felg. Den har omtrent 2 mm klaring til kaliperne. Prøvde i det lengste å la være å banke på vekter på felgkanten for å spare lakken, og dermed unngå korrosjon, men måtte til slutt gi tapt. Ikke lett å plassere LODD PÅ 270 GRAM (og det var bare på det ene punktet!) på en felg med 2 mm klaring til kaliper... Heldigvis fikk jeg tak i en meget dyktig kar (som viste seg hadde bygd om et par Hilux'er tidligere, så vi fikk jo pratet litt bil mens jeg var der), og han holdt på i OVER TO TIMER for å få disse hjulene "kjørbare".

Er SVÆRT interessert i å høre hva andre her på forumet har gjort med dette... Regner med det ikke bare er meg som foretrekker å kjøre motorvei i normalfart? At jeg kunne ha fått ett stk mandags-dekk er jo noe som kan skje, men TRE???? Vurderer en litt lettere irritert telefonsamtale, men nå skal det også sies at Scania/Autogrip Tønsberg ordnet, bestilte og betalte balansering i Oslo for meg (og balansering var jo en del av avtalen). Kudos for bra oppfølging og kundebehandling, men det er jo jeg som blir sittende å riste... (flat-spots lar seg ikke balansere, nei...)

Sånn! Det får holde med syting fra meg. Godt å få det ut...

Skal sove litt på det, og så har jeg jo planer om å bytte ut hjulene i ikke altfor fjærn fremtid. Og etter godt utført balansering skal jeg klare å leve med det en stund.

Men neste gang jeg kjøper hjul skal jeg f.. meg se de i maskinen før jeg betaler!!

Dekkball: mine bf-mud 33" måtte også ha noe sånnt som 150g på noen av de for å bli i balanse. men de var ikke skjeve.

Og så er det vel på tide å legge ut litt mer snekre-aktivitet...

Har vært en tur i verkstedet i helgen, og fått krysset ut et par punkter til på listen. Som jeg nevnte i en tidligere tråd, passer ikke stabilisatorstaget på de nye radiusarmene. Ser ut som australierne har en annen boltavstand på klaven som holder staget til armene. Bjørn-Erik snublet vel over samme problemet, og jeg har også sett bilder av en type4 på et tysk forum med samme armer, og uten stab stag... Har nå laget en alternativ løsning som skal testes ut, og så får vi se om dette er bra nok. Alternativet må bli å se om et nytt stag kan skaffes fra Australia, men slikt blir jo ofte litt pes med bestilling og frakt, for ikke å snakke om ventetid om man ikke bestiller DYR flyfrakt.

Så! Nytt (vel, egentlig gammelt...) stabilisatorstag:
Det originale passer rett og slett ikke! Og senker man det så mye at det går klar av mellomaksling og eksosanlegg, så tar "bøyen" på staget nesten nedi bakken. Det blir i hvert fall like lavt som diff'en, noe som ikke er aktuelt da dette garantert vil subbe. Løsningen ble et gammelt skogsbilprosjekt som sto utfor døra Nissan Patrol 160 kort!!

Monterer med nye (og litt lengre enn original) disconnector-dog-bones, og er straks klar for test!

Har foreløpig bare ett stykk dog-bone, så jeg må få sendt avgårde en bestilling til Down Under av litt tilbehør en av de første dagene (har fått et akutt behov for noen andre greier også... mer om det i et av de neste tråd-punktene...)
